Liquid Gold

So I have been asked to feature on a fellow bloggers' blog (more news coming soon), and whilst answering a few of their questions I realised I used quite a few oils in my natural hair.
Thought I would share them along with their properties with you guys!

No #1
Jojoba Oil
Everyone's favourite Oil to mispronounce!
Jojoba Oil is well known for its fantastic properties for hair and skin.
I love this Oil. It helps to de-frizz and smooth my hair. I use it before my rare blow-dries as well as on my ends when re-twisting my hair when wearing a puff.

No #2
Rosemary Oil
Great for blood circulation and stimulating the hair follicles, hence I use this oil on my scalp. I like the tingling effect! Makes me feel like it's working! Another great benefit is that it is excellent for dry flaky scalp so i use this in replace of grease.

Coconut Oil
Yes used for cooking but great, GREAT, GREAT for hair too! I use this as my dad to day moisture source for my hair. The only oil that is in 'solid' form, but rubbed between the palms and it gains it oil consistency again. Gives hair shine, but also provides protein for damaged hair.

No #4
Vegetable Glycerin
Has natural humectant properties, meaning it is able to retain moisture-great for afro-hair! I use this Oil usually when I retwist my hair at night time. Spritz with water then apply glycerin (along with Jojoba oil-#1).

Amla Oil
Amla Oil is a Natural hair conditioner, particular high in Vitamin C. It is said to strengthen the hair shaft from root to tip. Made from Gooseberry juice this oil has a thick consistency and has a fragrance which isn't to my liking. Despite this, I use it quite often, usually in the final rinse to get all the shampoo out or if I am in a real rush in replace of a deep condition, (leave in my hair for 5 mins, then rinse). It leaves my hair really soft and silky.

All products cost below a fiver, and are widely available in the UK from good hair supply stockists-i.e PAKS!

Do you use any of these products? Do you have any suggestions?

  2. I use all these except rosemary and amla oil, though I may consider using them in the future. I mostly use the oils in my shea butter mix or combine them to use on my scalp.

  4. Argan oil is a great essential oil for afro hair. It is on the expensive side but really great for the hair. And it is not greasy....

You can get it from http://www.naturalafrobeauty.com
